Command Description
The 3D Object Clash Detection command allows you to select solid objects and/or utilities and apply a specified clearance tolerance to identify potential clashes. It highlights the clash location, the objects involved, and the distance between them, allowing you to review, analyse, and report the results effectively.
Measurement Tab
- Click in the 3D Objects field and then in a graphic view select all the solid and utility objects you want to analyse. Click Options for additional selection options.
- Check the Filter selection to apply a custom filter to the selected objects. The Edit button can be used to change values during the process and the Isolate button if pressed will deselect all objects except those that match the filter settings.
- Enter a Minimum Clearance value for the data to be checked against. If zero is used then only objects that touch each other will be flagged.
- Press the Detect clashes button to analyse the data and populate the Measurements text box.
- The number of clashes is reported.
- All the clashes will get an orange flag on them.
- The Configure columns button allows the user to nominate which measured values are displayed in the measurements text box and reported.
- Within the Measurements text box:
- You can select a node of interest and the flag on screen will highlight red or blue depending on if they touch or just come within the clearance tolerance. It will also highlight the 2 objects that are being reported.
- If you right click on the selected line,
- You have the option to delete row for any clashes that you do not require and the view automatically updates to remove the flag.
- You also have the option to add exception to the clash rules. When the clash detection is rerun, those objects will no longer be flagged. Any existing clashes in the measurement table that match the newly added exception rule will also be removed.
- You can sort the table columns and if you double click on a row it will pan to the location in the plan view.
- Press the Create Report button to create an excel file of the data in the Measurements text box.
- Press the Clear button to clear the measurements text box.
Clash Rules Tab
- Check the box to Ignore Trimble utility relationships if your data contains pipes and pits built using the TBC Utility ribbon. This will suppress flags for any connections between the pits and pipes.
- Check the box to Ignore clashes between objects on the same layer option to prevent comparisons between objects or data within the same layer.
- Check the box to Ignore BIM utility connections and set a connection proximity distance if your data contains pipe, pits and conduits built using the BIM utility commands in TBC. This suppress flags for any connections between pits and pipes that are
- In the Clash exceptions table, click the Add button to display the Edit mapping dialog. This allows you to enter the names of two objects that if found to be within the clearance distance assigned will be excluded.
