Command Description
The Grid Volume from Boundary command computes the volumes between two selected surfaces and within multiple selected boundaries using the grid volume method. The computations are much faster than the standard surface to surface, even with a small defined grid interval. You are then also able to export an Excel report of the results and plot the results to screen.
- Initial Surface - Select the first of two surfaces to determine the volumes from.
- Final Surface - Select the second of two surfaces to determine the volumes from.
- Boundaries - Select the boundary lines that you want to use to report the volumes.
- Save Computed grid – Check this to save the computed results in the current TBC project. The computed grids are stored in the Stored Measurements section of the ‘Project Explorer’ and can be turned On and Off in the Stored Measurements section of the ‘View Filter Manager’. The name for the new Grid volume is taken from the boundary string.
- Reference line - Select a reference string in the graphic view if you want the chainage and offset of the centroid of the boundaries reported. To use a line from a Reference file, press the “Ref” button. Option to change the selection highlight colour.
- Grid Direction – Enter the orientation to apply the grid for the volume calculations.
- Grid size – Enter the Grid Size to use for the volume calculations. The smaller the grid size the more accurate and the closer the volume will be to a surface-to-surface volume computation. Smaller grids will also track the selected boundary lines better.
- Press the Measure button to run the grid volume using the selected objects. These measurements will display in the Measurements text box.
- Check the Add text on measurement box to draw the measurements directly to the screen as you press the measure button. These settings are found on the Text tab.
- The Configure columns button allows the user to nominate which measured values are displayed in the measurements text box and reported in the excel sheet.
- Press the Create Report button to create an excel file of the data in the Measurements text box.
- Press the Clear button to clear the measurements text box.
Text Tab
- Go to the Text tab to draw the measurements taken and recorded in the measurement tab to text.
- Define the layer - A layer called “Text – GridVolumeFromBoundary” is automatically created
- Choose a Colour
- Choose a text Style
- Enter a text Height
- Enter a Gap between the centroid location and the start of the text.
- Check the Draw leader line with gap box to add a leader line when a gap has been used.
- Check Include data prefix to include the “Data” type as a prefix to the text on screen.
- Create Text button will create text of all the measurements taken and currently active on the measurement tab.
- Clear Layer button will delete everything on the selected layer that contains the text.
